Who are we?
Jack's Guides were founded in 2007 by husband and wife team Kevin Ramsey and Eileen Chamberlain. We quickly became a community of writers. Between us we have several hundred years of experience in the IT world. We are all seasoned professionals, with deep experience and enthusiasm for what we do. Most of us have been in IT from 10 to 30 years.
Although each book in the series is authored by a named individual, the collective experience of this community of authors serves as a common sense check on what has been written.
What are we trying to do?As IT professionals ourselves we have become frustrated with the "information overload" in the industry, which is getting worse.
The world of IT is fast moving. The technologies change at a blistering pace, and somehow we all have to keep up. It can be difficult to find the information you need in a condensed readable form. Too much of the information available on the Internet is written either by the product vendors, and is full of hype and corporate jargon, or is written by academics in a dry hard-to-read style.
We wanted something that suits the busy professional, who is trying to keep up with what's happening and just needs the essentials.
Not only that - we wanted to produce a road map to advance the careers of IT professionals and those who would like to be. The IT industry is a paradox - it is desperately short of good people and yet the whole industry is shrouded in mystery about how it really works and how people can get into it and progress.
At Jack's Guides we show you the way.
